How do we manage to correspond to the ideal of beauty suggested to us by advertising every day? Many people find that they have to change their appearance to feel good. Diets are very popular and there seems to be something for everyone. Whether food combining, fasting or weight watchers.

The carbohydrates converted into sugar by the body raise the blood sugar level, which leads to an increased insulin production. This process inhibits and burns fat. The additional feeling of hunger created by insulin leads to an increased total intake of calories. So if we reduce the foods that contain carbohydrates, the body burns more fat, explains Michael Ristow, professor of energy metabolism at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, Switzerland.

DGE recommends a balanced diet The typical Western diet consists of approximately. 50% carbohydrates. Depending on the type of low-carb diet, this percentage can be reduced to zero in theory, which is only recommended in exceptional cases. The German Nutrition Society (DGE) generally advises a diet that focuses on carbohydrates and that is balanced. This is exactly what does not happen with the low-crab diet. A study by the Department of Medicine at George Washington University had shown that people who practiced a vegan low-fat diet lost an average of 6.5kg, while the conventional group only lost 3.1kg.
