Low-Fat versus Low Crab The two diets "Low Fat" and "Low Crab" have many followers. In a nutshell, "low carp" means eating less carbohydrates and avoiding a fatty diet on the "low fat" diet. Scientists, doctors and nutritionists do not agree on which of the two diets will achieve the desired result faster and which is better for the body.

Low Crab- a waiver of carbohydrates The idea behind low carb is simple. Daily meals consist mainly of vegetables, dairy products, fish and meat, with fats and proteins being eaten to compensate for the loss of carbohydrates.

The carbohydrates converted into sugar by the body raise the blood sugar level, which leads to an increased insulin production. This process inhibits and burns fat. The additional feeling of hunger created by insulin leads to an increased total intake of calories. So if we reduce the foods that contain carbohydrates, the body burns more fat, explains Michael Ristow, professor of energy metabolism at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, Switzerland.

DGE recommends a balanced diet The typical Western diet consists of approximately. 50% carbohydrates. Depending on the type of low-carb diet, this percentage can be reduced to zero in theory, which is only recommended in exceptional cases. The German Nutrition Society (DGE) generally advises a diet that focuses on carbohydrates and that is balanced. This is exactly what does not happen with the low-crab diet. Rather, there is an increased intake of proteins and fats. A lot of meat is eaten on the classic low-carb diet.

Low-fat, high-fat food is reduced The high fat consumption is usually blamed for the increase in industrialized countries. For this reason, many diets recommended by nutritionists contain a reduced amount of fat. The DGE recommends the intake of a maximum of 60 to 70 grams of fat per day. The energy intake in this diet is to be replaced by carbohydrates or proteins.

A study by the Department of Medicine at George Washington University had shown that people who practiced a vegan low-fat diet lost an average of 6.5kg, while the conventional group only lost 3.1kg. Another effect was the positive influence on the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Overall, it turns out that the energy supply is the essential factor in influencing the body weight.
