DZVhÄ, Homeopathy Foundation and WissHom launch initiative for homeopathy research
The German Central Association of Homeopathic Doctors (DZVhÄ), the Homeopathy Foundation of the DZVhÄ and the Scientific Society for Homeopathy (WissHom) have launched an initiative to give new impetus to homeopathy research. In order to maintain medical homeopathy in the undisputed position in the health system in the medium and long term, further research is absolutely necessary.
This research must meet the scientific standards, examine the patient benefit of homeopathic treatment for acute and chronic diseases and be able to find its way into guidelines. "But projects that directly support homeopathic practice are also of major concern," says Curt Kösters from Wisshom, the Scientific Society for Homeopathy. The Homeopathy Foundation has already received project proposals from various research areas. The foundation decides which research is to be financially supported, advised by WissHom. The deadline for submitting applications is September 30th.
Many doctors are already making regular donations "Support the joint initiative with a regular donation in favor of groundbreaking research," says Lars Stange, board member of the foundation, both doctors and anyone interested in homeopathy. The donation and research initiative already met with a very positive response from the doctors who account for services under the selective contracts for homeopathy. After the call for donations, the majority of them decided to regularly make part of the income from their homeopathic work available to the foundation - and thus specifically to research. "This is a really big and gratifying step forward for our - still completely voluntary - work in the foundation, because we gain planning security and can also promote long-term, practice-relevant projects", Lars Stange draws a first balance.
