According to experts, a low-fat and vitamin-rich diet would be helpful. High-fat fish and foods with calcium, vitamin D and vitamin B6 alleviate mood swings, indigestion and appetite disorders, skin blemishes or water retention. Especially in the second half of the cycle, women should take care to get enough sleep, take regular breaks and relaxation phases, reduce stress and exercise three times a week. The experts also recommend warm baths that help to relax the muscles.

BVF advises those who suffer from PSM syndrome very much, that they can also use naturopathic preparations with natural active ingredients such as chaste tree, black cohosh, St. John's wort or lemon balm. The remedies have an antispasmodic and relaxing effect. (ag)
