Wrong doctor practiced and is on trial

In Aschaffenburg, a trained podiatrist from the Miltenberg area has to answer before the regional court. The defendant had pretended to be a doctor for a few months before the fraud was exposed. The prosecutor accuses the 56-year-old man of pretending to be a licensed doctor and treating ignorant patients. In a total of 1936 cases, the man was guilty of dangerous bodily harm, in 110 cases the accused is accused of cheating the victims. The illegal acts resulted in financial damage of around 122,000 euros, said a spokesman for the public prosecutor's office in Aschaffenburg.

According to the first information from the police, the man in the federal states of Thuringia, Baden-W├╝rttemberg and the Bavarian Franconian pretended to be a doctor of medicine (Dr. med.) And treated ignorant patients as an alleged doctor have prescribed that were prescription only. In over 100 cases, the wrong doctor took blood from the unsuspecting person and then issued private medical bills for treatment and consultation. In more than 1,800 cases, the defendant has given injections with a syringe. Fortunately, no one was seriously harmed by these supposed treatments.

The wrong doctor is not an isolated case
It happens again and again that people pretend to be medical doctors. The last best known case was Christian E. He even managed to work as a supposed doctor for vascular, thoracic and visceral surgery in a clinic for a few years. The wrong doctor even certified during operations and participated in organ transplants and rescue flights by the ADAC. Only an anonymous tip could stop the young man at the time. Christian E. was sentenced to three and a half years in prison for fraud, forgery of documents and misuse of doctoral titles. A similar verdict could also blossom for the man from Aschaffenburg, provided that the allegation can be proven. (sb, 11/11/2010)
