Green tea loses health-promoting effects if it is brewed too hot.
(26.07.2010) It depends on the right brewing method so that green tea can also achieve its full effect. This is what the research group monastery medicine refers to. The tea should therefore be brewed at a maximum of 60 to 70 degrees. Temperatures above this may destroy important health effects.
It is best to wait five to ten minutes after boiling water until the green tea is poured over. The medicinal substances in green tea are so-called polyphenols. Its main ingredient is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). Studies have shown that epigallocatechin gallates can make toxic protein deposits in the body harmless. The risk of developing Alzheimer's and Parkinson's is reduced. It is also suspected that green tea also has an antioxidant effect and thus prevents cancer. However, there are still insufficient studies to confirm this.
In order to achieve a healthy effect, the research group monastery medicine recommends drinking at least four cups of green tea a day. A good green tea without pesticides can be found in all assorted organic and health food stores. According to Chinese tradition, green tea also has a variety of healing, strengthening and preventive effects. (sb)
